Iceland

Iceland is a country which wasn’t on my radar until recently. Wow Airlines is a budget airlines which makes flights to Reykjavik hard to pass up. My flight from L.A to Iceland was $270. Because Wow airlines is a budget airline, they charge for everything like advance seat selection, luggage, food, water, etc. However, if you know how to pack light and don’t mind bringing your own snacks, you’ll be fine. *They recently changed their baggage policy so now small carry-ons like a backpack aren’t included in the fare.

Although my flight to Iceland was cheap, everything  such as food, excursions, souvenirs are quite the opposite.  The average meal in a sit down restaurant is $20-25. Luckily my airbnb provided breakfast and there are many restaurants which have  reasonable happy hour specials. Be sure to try the Icelandic Hot dogs, they’re quite tasty and easy on the wallet.

I arrived in Reykjavik on a Sunday and left on a Wednesday. 4 days isn’t a long time to spend in a new country but I knew after a few days in the cold, I would be ready to go. I knew Iceland was going to be cold since I was going in the dead of winter but the cold was still shocking. Even though I grew up in Chicago, the Los Angeles weather has spoiled me.

Blue Lagoon

Recommendations:

Blue Lagoon – be sure to book in advance. Daytime is best for pictures and to see everything the lagoon has to offer. Bring waterproof phone case. I mistakenly went at night 😦
