tearful goodbye to Misho-June 2013

In 2013, I returned from serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Lanchkhuti, Georgia. It was definitely an experience full of smiles, laughter, and tears. Living in Georgia was a challenging yet rewarding period in my life. I knew when I left in 2013, that I would come back one day to see the people who have made an indelible impact on my life.

In a few days I will be heading back to Europe where I will be making stops in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and last but not least Georgia. I am experiencing a mixture of emotions as I prepare to return to Georgia. Unfortunately, my host family and I have not been able to video chat since I left which makes this trip even more special.  I can’t wait to see if my 6 year old host brother Misho will remember me. I will probably cry a little if he doesn’t lol. I look forward most to indulging in Georgian food and seeing how much the country has changed since I left. Hopefully, I still remember enough Georgian to get by.

Denmark, Norway, and Sweden are places I’ve always wanted to visit. For years, Denmark has been ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world which has piqued my curiosity.  I’m looking forward to exploring Copenhagen and learning about Danish culture. Sweden has been on my list due to reading the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, which takes place in Stockholm. Norway is some place I’ve wanted to visit just because. This will be a solo trip so it will be full of meeting new people, and awkward moments where I have to ask strangers to be my personal photographer, lol.

Are you headed somewhere cool for Memorial day too??? Where???
